Turtles are reptiles of which all species have a solid shield. Turtles come in many shapes and sizes, and live on land or in the sea. They always come ashore to lay eggs. They grow quickly when they are young but develop very slowly. Larger turtles are only mature after several decades, however, such species can also become very old.
